HEMORRHAGE FATAL TO YOUNG MOTHER
Mrs. Nick Ludovissie Died Monday Evening After Brief Illness.
One of the saddest deaths which has occurred in this vicinity for some time was that of Mrs. Nick Ludovissie which occurred at her home Monday (May 6, 1918) on what is more familiarly known as the Hastings farm near Verndale. Death followed within forty-eight hoursof the first indication of illness Sunday morning, hemorrhage of the brain being directly responsible for her untimely end. The fact that she was 23 years of age and leaves three babies, the youngest 3 months old and the oldest 3 years old in June, makes her case doubly sad.
Caroline Theresia Boyer was born in Williams, Ia., on Sept. 15, 1895. With her parents, Mr. & Mrs. H. B. Boyer, she moved to Canby, Minn., in 1901, and in 1912 came to Wadena to make their home on the old Whipple homestead south of this city. On October 8, 1914, she was married to Nick Ludovissie. They immediately went to housekeeping on the Peffer farm and this spring moved to the Hastings farm near Verndale.
Last Sunday morning she enjoyed her usual good health when she awoke but later complained of pain on one side of her head. Shortly afterwards she went out to the shed and Mr. Ludovissie's attention was attracted by the dog's whining and scratching at the shed door and on opening it he found his wife lying on the floor unconscious. After removing her to the house she regained consciousness and had a severe headache all afternoon. Monday morning she complained of a pain in the other side of her head and death ended her suffering at 9:40 Monday evening.
Funeral services were conducted by Fr. Lenger at St. Ann's Catholic church Wednesday morning and internment was made in the local cemetery.
In addition to her husband and three babies Mrs. Ludovissie is survivied by her parents and seven brothers and three sisters.
Mr. and Mrs. John Murphy of Williams, Ia., cousins of the deceased, arrived Wednesday afternoon too late to attend the funeral.
