Funeral Services will be held Monday for J. Richard Hamm Sr., 61, of 150 Baltimore Street Hanover, who was fatally injured in an automobile accident early Thursday morning near York Springs.
He was born in Hanover, the son of the late Hugh and Ruth Craumer Hamm.
He was a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Hanover, and a veteran of World War II , serving in the US Navy. Hamm formerly owned and operated Hamm's Café in Hanover and was employed by Staff, Inc. of Hanover as an electrical mechanic.
He was a member of Hanover Moose No 227, the Hanover Home Association, Eagles No. 1406, the Harold H. Bair American Legion Post in Hanover, No 14, Hanover V.F.W. No 2506; Hanover Elks Lodge No 763, and the McSherrystown Home Association.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Jane Gayle Hamm of 150 Baltimore St. in Hanover, a stepmother, Mrs Mary Hamm, Carlisle St. Extended, Hanover; three sons, J. Richard Hamm Hr, 77 George Street in Hanover; Wayne D. Hamm in Hanover R. 3 , Scot Hamm in Spring Grove R. 5, a step daughter, DeEtta Dail, Jamestown Apartments in Hanover; a stepson, Darren Dail of 701 McAllister St, Hanover; three sisters, Dorothy Hamm of Baltimore, MD; Mrs. Anna Schaeffer of Orlando, FL and Mrs. Jean Adams of California; a half sister, Mrs. Linda Gross of Dover; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Wetzel Funeral Home in Hanover with his pastor, the Rev. Eric P. Wogen, officiating. Internment will be in the Rest Haven Cemetery in Hanover.
