George married Agnes Frommer on April 28, 1874 in Isingen, Wuettemberg, Germany. They had twelve children. Katherine, George A., John, Adam and Ruth were born while they lived in Isingen. The family came to America in 1880 and settled on farm property in Atchison County, near Nortonville, Kansas, where seven children were born, Jacob, Tena, William, Frieda, Lena, Charles, and Frank.
When St. Matthew Lutheran Church of Nortonville, Kansas was organized on February 12, 1897, George was one of the eight charter members.
