Sylvia Anderson, 70, Washington Island, died at Bellin Hospital, Green Bay, on July 15. The Reverend James Rieff conducted funeral services on Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Washington Island. Burial was at the Island cemetery. The Casperson's funeral home was in charge of arrangements.

The daughter of Jens and Josie Hansen, she was born on the Island on Sept. 10, 1912. She was responsible for helping to bring a Red Cross swimming program to the Island, was active in the Girl Scouts and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

She was preceded in death by husbands Howard Cornell in 1945; Theodore Jessen Sr. in 1957; and Edward Anderson who died in 1978.

Mrs. Anderson is survived by stepchildren Thomas Jessen, Island, Ted Jessen, Rockford, Ill.; Donald Jessen, Minneapolis, Minn., Albert Jessen, Chicago, Mrs. Lloyd (Ann) Banson, Oregon, Mrs. Myrna Lee McGinnis, San Diego, Calif., and Mrs. Marilyn Nelson, Valparaiso, Ind.; 22 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Mrs. Anderson is also survived by brothers Lucien Hansen, Evanston, Illinois; Ray Hansen, Island, Ted Hansen, Skokie, Illinois, and Franklin Hansen, Bensenville, Ill. and sisters Mrs. Muriel Gunnlaugsson, Washington Island, Mrs. Lillian Getchius, Washington Island and Mrs. Natalie Worthington, Sturgeon Bay.

Brothers James and Richard and a sister Ardis proceeded her and death.
