Laurinburg, NC - Mr. Ralph Jackson Asbill, 80, of 1204 Charles Drive died Saturday, October 7, at Scotland Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at St. Luke United Methodist Church officiated by the Rev. Mack McMillan. Burial will be 3:00 p.m. at Biscoe Cemetery in Biscoe.

He is survived by his children, Cindy Jones and husband, Bill of Norwood, John McKay of Laurinburg, Carol Stewart and husband, Paschal of Winston-Salem; his sisters, Colleen McIver of Biscoe and Ruth Morgan of Ether; his brother, W. C. Asbill, Sr. of Biscoe; his grandchildren, Spencer Jones of Arlington, VA, Benjamin Jones of Norwood, Adair and McKinnon Stewart of Winston-Salem; and a special friend, Nancy McInnis. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert, Charles and J. D. Asbill.

Born November 2, 1925 in Biscoe, he was a son of the late Willie and Aire Leach Asbill. He served in the US Navy and had a career of over 60 years in the textile industry, retiring in 1994 from J. P. Stevens. He was an active member of St. Luke United Methodist Church and was actively involved in Habitat for Humanity. In 1949 he married Mary Jean Williams and following her death in 1977 he was married to Myrna McKay from 1981 until her death in 1991.

Memorials may be made to St. Luke United Methodist Church, 1501 S. Turnpike Rd., Laurinburg, NC 28352 or Habitat for Humanity, 114 Roper St., Laurinburg, NC 28352.

The family will be receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.
