RUSSELL
Memorial services for Paul David Russell, 82, of NuAcres, Idaho were held Monday, February 15, 1993, at 10 A.M. at the Church of the Brethren, Fruitland, Idaho, where he was a member. Interment was in the Parkview Cemetery, New Plymouth, Idaho. He died Thursday, February 11, 1993 at his home. He was born January 31, 1911 near Guss, Iowa to Louis Canfield Russell and Catherine. Ferguson Russell. He graduated from Beaconfield, Iowa High School. He had a real love for the game of basketball. He and his brother, Carl, played on the high school team together and for two years competed in state tournaments. In 1930, Paul, along with his father and brothers, left Iowa during the summer, working in various places. They worked their way toward Colorado and after six years, the rest of the 10 family joined them in Julesburg where they settled. He worked on the Abts farm. On December 24, 1934 Paul and Ella Elizabeth Abts were married in North Platte, NE. While in Colorado, he worked as a ranch foreman on the Reichelt Ranch near Julesburg and for Great Western Sugar Company at Ovid. In 1950, the Russells moved to Nyssa. Four years later they moved to NuAcres. He went to work for the Amalgamated Sugar Company in 1950. He retired from the company in 1973 after working at the Nyssa, Mini-Cassia and Twin Falls factories as a dryer foreman. After retirement, he worked for the American Crystal Sugar Company at Rennvil, Minn., supervising the installation and operation of their pulp dryer. He enjoyed fishing and playing with the grandchildren. His wife, Ella, died February 04, 1984. He was preceded in death by five brothers and one sister. He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Pauline and Ralph Ross of Deer Park, Texas; one son and daughter-in-law, Gerald and Marilyn Russell of NuAcres, ID; three sisters, Kathryn Abts of Big Springs, NE, Daivy Dean Seiver of Mount Ayr, Iowa and Jacqueline Sheldrew of Princeton, Minn.; five grandchildren, Fred, Cindy, Brad, Scott and Steve; and seven great grandchildren, Joshua, Jessica, Chad, Sean, Wyat, Katilyn and Cody.
