Widow of Steve Baker Passes On In Marysville After An Active Life
Mrs. Mary Ann Baker of Grimes, widow of the late Stephen Baker, and members of whose family have been prominent in the affairs of Colusa county, passed away at 8:30 o'clock last night in the Rideout hospital at Marysville, where she had been taken a few days previously from her home in Grand Island. She had been stricken with influenza some days ago and pneumonia developed, death coming to relieve her suffering. Her advanced age, 74 years, was against her.
Born in Grimes
Deceased was a native of California, having been born on a ranch near Grimes, where she lived her entire life, suffering her last illness on the premises where she was born, reared and raised a very respected family. She was Colusa's oldest Native Daughter.
Funeral services will be held from the Catholic church in this city at 9:30 o'clock next Friday morning. A requiem high mass will be celebrated by Father James Vaughn. The body is at the Sullivan Bros. funeral home, where relatives and friends are attending the body during its last hours on earth.
Many Survive
Surviving the estimable woman are two daughters: Miss Mary Baker of Napa and Mrs. Lucy Parry of Grimes, and five sons, Burress Baker and Stephen Baker, both of Grimes; Thaddeus Baker of Sutter county; Grover Baker of Colusa and Dr. Harry Baker of Napa. There are eight surviving grandchildren and one great grandchild.
