Obituary
Eliza Thornburg was born January 27, 1868; departed this life June 20, 1908, aged 40 years, 4 months and 23 days. She was a daughter of Mary and William Marquis. She was married to Nathan Thornburg February 25, 1888. To this union were born one daughter and four sons. She was a consistent member of the Friends church. She was a faithful and lovable wife, a kind and indulgent mother. She was a kind and obliging neighbor and was respected in the highest degree by all who knew her. Though afflicted for many weeks she bore it all with much patience. She was fully resigned to the will of God and met the last enemy which is Death with a Christian courage and triumph that has left behind a living evidence that today she is with the angels in the sweet paradise of God, having helped to sanctify and lift heavenward the very hearts that broke at the last farewell. She has gone from this troublesome sphere to her home in our Father’s house of many mansions. Father, mother, three sisters and three brothers, an only daughter and two sons have preceded her to the spirit land. She leaves to mourn their loss a bereaved and heartbroken husband, two little sons, two brothers and two sisters and a host of relatives and friends. The stream of tears can never cease to flow as long as life’s sun shall shine on us below, and many angels have been sent by God to count the tear-drops wept upon life’s road; but of all the tears that flow, the most bitter are those that fall on the grave of mother. Funeral services were held at Mt. Zion, Monday, June 29, 1908, conducted by Rev. O. P. Thornburg. Interment at same place.
