John died in 1894 and Johanna was left to raise the children on her own. She moved to Hancock and took up residence on Quincy Street. After daughter Flora married Thomas Stodden, Johanna became a live-in grandmother to two young girls. In addition, son Joseph and his wife Mary gave her four Glasson grandchildren. Elizabeth Mary married a man by the name of Hosking and with him had seven children.
Johanna died suddenly in 1917. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Isaac (died in infancy), Isaac, Richard, and Samuel Henry; and sisters Elizabeth Ann, Phyllis, Jane, and Eliza. Surviving were sisters Emily and Fanny.
