A graduate of Muncie Central, she worked as a Group Chief Operator at Indiana Bell Telephone for 35 years before retiring in 1982.
She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers and a member of Green Hills Country Club for many years. She was formerly a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and attended St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bradenton since her retirement. She was an avid bridge enthusiast.
Survivors include a son, William J. Wade (wife-Beth) Brookville; two daughters, Beth A. Rahn (husband-Verne), Muncie, and Denise A. Wade, Bradenton; a daughter-in-law, Marcia A. Wade, Farmland; a brother, Jerry Douglas, Muncie; two sisters, Laura D. Ellis, Bradenton, and Joanna R. Whitcomb, Muncie; four grandchildren, Brett D.Foltz (wife-Mindy), Yorktown, Brittany M. Foltz (fiance-Miggy Cabrera), Muncie, Autumn M. Wade and William H. Wade, both of Brookville; three step-grandchildren, Jennifer O'Keefe, Bristol, Sara Rahn, Mishawaka, and Darcie Rahn, Muncie; and two great-grandchilren, Baylie P. Foltz and Brayden T. Foltz, both of Yorktown.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William L. Wade in 2003; her son, Timothy J. Wade in 2004; her parents; a brother; and a sister.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 13, 2005 at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Entombment will follow at Elm Ridge Memorial Park. Calling will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, June 12, 2005 at The Meeks Mortuary.
Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church, Muncie, St. Joseph Catholic Church, Bradenton, or Hospice of Southwest Florida.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Whetsel Funeral Service, Alexandria, Indiana.
