Timothy Lynch was the 7th child and 5th son of Cornelius Lynch and Bridget Harris who immigrated from Waterford County, Ireland to Michigan's Upper Peninsula in 1865. Tim joined the exodus of 2nd generation Irishmen from Michigan to Butte during the great mining boom. Walking to work one day along a train track which was obscured by steam from a mine shaft, Tim was struck and killed by a train. He left behind his wife Tillie Trenery and three young children, Montana, Irene and Raymond. Several of Tim's brothers went on to form the Lynch Brothers Diamond Drilling Company of Seattle.
