Many of the sons moved to Butte, Montana to work in mines as adults and then on to Seattle and Alaska where they formed the Lynch Brothers Diamond Drilling Company. The Lynch Brothers did the initial core drilling for the Grand Coulee Dam and virtually every major dam in the Pacific Northwest constructed between 1918 and 1945.
Cornelius and his wife remained in Republic for the remainder of their lives. Scores of descendants live today, mostly in the Pacific Northwest.
The space above his wife's name on the tombstone was meant for Cornelius. It is unknown why it was never added, but his body lies next to hers.
