Funeral for Lona F. Giles, 86, of Colbert, who died Saturday at a Denison hospital, was at 10 a.m. today in the First Baptist Church of Colbert. The Rev. Victor Granberry officiated. Burial was in the Colbert Cemetery under the direction of Coffey Funeral Home.
Mrs. Giles was born March 22, 1901, in Brazos, Texas. She married Angus M. Giles January 30, 1921 in Calera, Oklahoma. He died in 1969. She was also preceeded in death by three sons and a daughter.
Survivors include a son W.L. Giles, Colbert, nine daughters Frances Barkley, Colbert, Louise Hannan, Colbert, Lillie Raney, Sherman, Texas, Lorene Garvin, Elmore City, Joann Korbelic, Greenville, Texas, Dollie Hooper, Quinlan, Texas, Donella Baecht Savoy, Texas, Fern Bush, Denison, Texas, Margie Dawson, Denison, Texas; two sisters Della Lamb of Denison and Birdie Williams of Fresno, California; 29 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
