Mrs. Tyler, Civic Leader, Succumbs
Charles City - Mrs. Katherine Thomason Tyler of "Sherwood Forest," wife of former Charles City County Commonwealth's Attorney J. Alfred Tyler, died Tuesday.
Mrs. Tyler was past president of the Junior League of Richmond and was a society writer for the Richmond News Leader in the late 1930s.
She aided in the establishment of the Charles City County Health Department, was past chairman of the Charles City Cancer Society chapter, and was a member of the Charles City Red Cross.
She was a member of Westover Parish Episcopal Church.
Besides her husband, survivors include two daughters, Miss Emily Thomason Tyler, and Miss Mary Gardiner Tyler; one son, James A Tyler Jr., and three sisters, Miss Florine Thomason, Miss Eugenia Thomason and Miss Luly Thomason, all of Richmond.
A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at Westover Parish Episcopal Church, with burial in Hollywood Cemetery in Richmond.
The family has requested that in lieu of flowers contributions be made to the American Cancer Society and the Charles City Chapter of the American Red Cross.
