Ervin J. Delsmann(sic), 41, for many years identified with the automotive
business in this city, died last night at his home, 852 N. 14th street.
Mr. Delsmann became ill last June and about a month ago underwent an operation
at Rochester, Minn.
He was born in the Town of Kossuth Dec. 19, 1897, son of Mr. and Mrs. Louis
Delsmann, Sr. He came to Manitowoc in 1921 and entered the employ of the Hamacheck-
Bleser company. An expert auto mechanic, Mr. Delsmann remained with that firm for
17 years. In 1938 he formed a partnership with his brother, Louis, in a garage
located at 508 N. 9th street, and in June, 1939, a new firm, the Manitowoc Motor
Sales company was organized by the Delsmann brothers and Ed. Scheurer, and a
garage was opened at 9th and Comemrcial streets.
On June 1, 1926, Mr. Delsmann married Miss Caroline Galbraith in this city. She
survives, with one daughter, (private); one son, (private); his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Louis Delsmann, Sr., of this city; five brothers, Louis and Quirin of this
city, Joseph of Kossuth, Albert of Corpus Christi, Tex., and Clarence of Milwaukee;
and two sisters, Mrs. Ed. Bleser of Manitowoc Rapid and Sister M. Viola of the
Holy Family convent.
Mr. Delsmann was a member of the Holy Name society of Holy Innocents church and
the Society of the Divine Savior.
The body was removed to the residence from the Wattawa, Urbanek & Schlei funeral
home this afternoon and the funeral will be held Thursday at 9 o'clock from the
Holy Innocents church with the Rev. E. A. Radey officiating. Burial will be in
Evergreen cemetery. The Holy Name society will recite the rosary Wednesday at
7:30 p.m.
