FRED GRAPENTIN

Fred Grapentin, Sr., 76, Newton farmer, died suddenly of aheart attack
this morning at the farm home on route 4, Manitowoc. Mr. Grapentin,
apparently in good health, prepared to assist in the farm work today
when he was stricken.
Funeral arrangements will be announced Tuesday.
Mr. Grapentin was born in Germany in 1861 and when a boy of 8
accompanied his parents to this country. The family located on a farm
in Newton in 1869. He was educated in the district schools and in
1895 married Miss Alvina Willert. They took up their residence on the
homestead farm.
Survivors are the widow; three daughters, Mrs. William Appelkamp,
Topaz, Mich., Mrs. Andrew Kaufmann and Mrs. Edward Fischer of this
city; three sons, William, Kaukauna, Fred Jr., city, Walter, Newton;
and 23 grandchildren.
Mr. Grapentin was a member of the German Lutheran church.

Funeral services for Fred Grapentin Sr., who died yesterday at his
home on Route 4, Manitowoc, will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. from the
St. John's church, Newton, in charge of the Rev. Edward Kionka.
Interment will be in Evergreen cemetery. The body which is now at the
Grapentin home, will be moved to the church Wednesday morning.
