Miss Esther Kathryn Jonas of 1810 W. Wisconsin Ave., Milwaukee, died Sunday
morning at Mount Sinai Hospital at that city after a short illness.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of First Lutheran
Church, Manitowoc. Officiating will be the Rev. Arnold Nelson of Our Savior
Lutheran Church of Milwaukee.
Miss Jonas was born at Mishicot, daughter of the late Fred and Augusta Paarman
Jonas. She was graduated from Mishicot High School, Manitowoc County Teachers
College, Wisconsin State College at Milwaukee and received her bachelor’s
degree at Northwestern University, Evanston, Ill.
For the past 33 years she had been a teacher at Jefferson School, West Allis.
Miss Jonas was well known at Manitowoc, having spent her summer vacations here
with her mother, the late Mrs. Fred Jonas and her sister, Miss Meta Jonas of
1016A St. Clair St.
Survivors are three sisters, Miss Meta Jonas, Mrs. C. R. Donnehy (or Donnelly?)
and Mrs. A.A. Vogel of Manitowoc; three brothers, Judge Edgar A. Jonas and Atty.
Fred C. Jonas of Chicago and Harry Jonas of Minneapolis.
Friends may call at Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home after 2 p.m. Tuesday until
11 a.m. Wednesday when the casket will be moved to the First Lutheran Chapel to
lie in state until the hour of service.
