Miss Meta M. Jonas, 101, of 1016A St. Clair St., Manitowoc, died
Sunday, July 23, 1989 at Holy Family Medical Center, Manitowoc.
Funeral services will be 11 am Wednesday at First Lutheran Church
Chapel. Rev. Richard Lind will officiate and burial will be in
Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Miss Jonas was born March 10, 1888 at Mishicot, daughter of the
late Fred and Augusta Paarmann Jonas. She attended schools in the
Mishicot area. Miss Jonas was a Buyer of children's clothing in
the Chicago area from 1908 until 1926, coming to Manitowoc to make
her home. Miss Jonas then worked at Kiddie Klothes in Manitowoc
until retiring in 1972. She was a member of First Lutheran Church,
Order of Eastern Star No. 196 of Manitowoc and a member of Business
and Professional Women's Club.
Survivors include many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded
in death by five brothers, Hugo, August, Edgar, Fred and Harry and
four sisters, Mrs. Rose Vogel, Mrs. Clair Donnelly, Mrs. Minnie
Glander and Miss Esther Jonas.
Friends may call at Jens Funeral home, Manitowoc, 6 pm to 8 pm Tuesday
and at the Chapel from 10 am until the time of services on Wednesday.
