She was a retired teachers aide from Lynn Camp in the Knox County School System and was the former Director Senior Citizen's Center in Corbin. She was a member of the Central Baptist Church in Corbin.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred C. Bennett; her brothers, Edward, George, and Ellis McCollum; her sisters, Mildred Parsons and Janie Durham.She is survived by eight children; Warren McNew of Corbin; Freddy Bennett and wife Barbara of Canton, GA; Danny Bennett and wife Pam of Mt. Juliet, TN; Joseph Bennett and wife Elaine of Woodbine; Shelia Dingess and Husband Roger of Girdler; Robby Bennett and wife Robin of Winchester; Kathy Cox and husband David of Somerset; and Mark Bennett and wife Sherry of Corbin. 20 Grandchildren and (11) Great Grandchildren; (2) brothers, Alonza McCollum and wife Mary of Roundstone, KY; and Frank McCollum and wife Jerri of Loudon, TN; three sisters, Nina Abbott of Marion, IN, Joy Pennington of Berea, and Sandra McCollum of Minnesota.Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2004 at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home with Rev. Darren Gaddis officiating. Burial will follow in the Pine Hill Cemetery in Corbin.
