Robert Lee Franklin, 27, of 3116 Benton boulevard, died yesterday at the General hospital about four hours after he was admitted with a bullet wound In the head. Mr. Franklin was found wounded on the floor of his third floor
bedroom, a 22 caliber rifle beside him. Mr. Franklin had been off work a week with a cold and ear ailment and had been despondent. A brother, Elmer Franklin, who rooms at the same address, said the victim was born in Mountain Grove, Mo., and moved to Kansas City in 1948. Since then he had handled baggage and mail at the Union Station for the Kansas City Terminal railway. He was a veteran of the Korean war and spent ten months In Korea before he was discharged in 1952. He was a bachelor.
Also surviving are four sisters, Mrs. Elva Wright, Mountain Grove; Mrs. Thelma Cooper, Glendale, Calif.; Mrs. Irene Bennett, Macomb, Mo., and Mrs. Barbara Jean Paarman, Oskaloosa, Ia., and seven other brothers, Elvin Franklin, Hastings, Neb, Raymond Franklin, Richmond, Calif., Clifford Franklin, Wichita., Lloyd Franklin, 3205 East; Sixty-second street, Rex Franklin, Springfield, Mo., Roy Franklin, air force, South Carolina, and George Franklin, army. Services and burial will be at Mountain Grove.
