According to birth and christening dates from St. Joseph Catholic Church, Belding, MI, she was born on 22 MAY 1878 and christened Mariam (Mary or Maria) Juliam (Julia) Breimayer. Godparents were Bernard Wurst, son of Ferdinand's sister Agnes, and Maria Fischer (Mary Fisher) a neighbor. She was generally referred to as Julia, although she may be named Mary on some records. According to her death certificate, she died of renal cardiac disease in Yates Twp, Lake Cty, MI on 8 DEC 1960.

From the 1900 census, Julia Breimayer was boarding with the Willard Holmes family in Belding and occupied as a laborer at a silk mill. She married Ralph Ernest Russell (b. 6 OCT 1879 in Cannonsburg, MI, d. 28 SEP 1947) on 8 JUN 1903 per Michigan marriages, Ionia County, 1903. The marriage in Belding was officiated by a Justice of the Peace. The marriage was after the death of her father Ferdinand, and so Anthony Breimayer gave her away in marriage. His parents attended the wedding, and Rose Russell and O. H. Russell of Belding are listed as witnesses.

From the 1900 census, Ralph E. Russell was a farmer living with his parents and sister Reva May Russell, b. OCT 1889 in Luther (Newkirk Twp), Lake Cty, MI, death date and place unknown. The 1903 marriage certificate also indicates that Ralph Ernest Russell resided in Luther, MI. At that time, a number of Russell families resided in Belding and in Lake Cty, particularly in and around Baldwin, MI, and were active in farming and real estate. Apart from his parents, I have not worked out any of these relationships.

Various records including the Russell, Wilson, Teel, Willard, and Williams family tree and the 1900 census indicate that Ralph E. Russell and his parents had roots around Grattan, Cannonsburg and Greenville, MI. His father was Francis (Frank) Marion Russell b. 6 OCT 1850 (1851 on his tombstone) in Greenville, MI, d. 1917, and his mother was Lucy S. Gilman (or Gillam in some records), b. AUG 1858 in Cannonsburg, Kent Cty, MI, d. 1911 (on her tombstone). A "Michigan Marriages 1868-1925" record of their marriage on 18 OCT 1877 in Ada, MI, substantiates his birthplace in Greenville, MI and her birthplace in Cannonsburg, MI.

Records of this Russell family available at the Lake Cty Register of Deeds office include several property deeds, the death certificates for Julia, information on the death of Ralph E. Russell, and death certificates for two of their children:

Lloyd Ernest Russell, b. 9 DEC 1907, d. 15 APR 1908, interred 16 APR 1908 in Ellsworth Cemetery near Luther; and

Reva Lucile b. 19 SEP 1911, d. 29 OCT 1911 (possibly named after Reva Mae Russell), interred in Valley Cemetery near Luther.

Another Find A Grave contributor located the tombstone of Lloyd Ernest actually in Valley Cemetery, and the tombstone inscription lists another deceased infant, Francis, b. 31 DEC 1906, d. 4 FEB 1907. So, it appears that three children were born and expired between 1906 and 1911.

The death certificates for Lloyd and Reva list inanition (exhaustion from lack of nourishment) and lack of nutrition, respectively, as cause of death. Based on stories about other Breimayer family members, the infants may have had an allergic reaction to their mother's milk and could not be otherwise nourished. In any case, there are no other records of any children of this couple.

The first real estate transaction I found is dated 30 OCT 1908 for two lots in Wilson's Addition to the city of Luther. They sold those lots in 1912 and purchased 80 acres in 1914. A series of real estate transactions involving Ralph and Frank Russell occurred until their deaths, and Julia disposed of her remaining interest before her death. She sold the mineral rights in 1945 during the oil and gas exploration prompted by World War II demands.

Some records indicate that the farm that they owned first with his parents and then after their deaths may have been at 1930 Ellsworth Road near Luther. I was not able to locate that address but it may well exist. As far as I can tell there are no living descendants of this family.
