JANESVILLE - Elsie Mae Short, age 77, of 3780 Pinebrook Circle, Bradenton, FL, died Thurs, May 6, 1999, at her home. Elsie was born in Janesville on Apr. 10, 1922, the daughter of Frank and Thursie (Brown) Arnold. She married Kenneth Short on Oct. 23, 1943; he died in August of 1991. Mrs. Short formerly assisted her husband in the operation of the Milwaukee Ave. Gulf Service Station in Janesville. She had also been employed as a secretary at Cargill United Methodist Church and as a receptionist at the Pember-Nuzum Clinic. Mr. and Mrs. Short moved to Florida from Janesville in 1971. She had been a member of Cargill United Methodist Church in Janesville. She was a member of the Meals on Wheels Program.

Elsie is survived by a daughter, Mary Lou Wilber of Bradenton, FL; 2 sons, James L. (Lynda) Short of Janesville, and Dr. Lawrence A. Short of Libertyville, IL; 6 grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and a brother, Forrest (Marie) Arnold of Janesville. In addition to her husband and parents, Elsie was preceded in death by 4 brothers, George, Emmett, James and Robert; and 2 sisters, Alice Crabtree and Eva Arnold.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Fri., May 14, 1999 in Cargill United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Milton Lawns Memorial Park.
