Found in The State 29 May 1940: Rupert Beranger Calvo, 67, eldest son of the late Charles A. Calvo, Jr., and Mrs. Angeline E. Calvo, died suddenly at the home of W. Talley Frazee, nine miles from Columbia on the Monticello road. Death was attributed to a heart attack. Mr. Calvo was born in Charleston September 9, 1872. He was a retired book binder having learned his trade in the printing office of the old Columbia Register which was formerly operated by his father. Mr. Calvo had also worked for The State in the bindery and in the government printing office in Washington, D. C. He retired several years ago. The following brothers and sisters survive: Charles B. Calvo and Arthur R. Calvo of New York City. Donald A. Calvo and Mrs. Angie Calvo Dunnovant of Philadelphia, Pa.; Mrs. R. P. Perkins of San Francisco, Calif., Lamar F. Calvo of Washington, D. C., Philip S. Calvo and A. Talley Calvo of Columbia. Funeral services will be conducted from the Talbert Funeral home at 5 o'clock Thursday afternoon by the Rev. Karl W. Kinard, pastor of the Lutheran Church of the Ascension. Interment will be in Elmwood cemetery.
