C. Louise Carpenter, age 71, of Elwood died June 2, 2009 at her residence after a brief illness. She was born on December 31, 1937 in Elwood, Indiana. She retired in 1984 after 20 years of service at Union State Bank in Elwood where she worked as a teller. She was a member of the First Missionary Baptist Church in Elwood. She was a 1955 graduate of Elwood High School. She bowled on a Wednesday night league for several years at Lucky Strike Lanes in Elwood. After she retired she lived on Irish Lake for 20 years where she enjoyed fishing.

Suriviors include: Daughter – Marianne Tipton of Elwood; Jeff Carpenter of Elwood; 2 Sisters – Joyce Lineberry of Elwood and Shirley Owens of Elwood; Brother – Ron and wife Barbara Hussong of Elwood; 5 Grandchildren – Megan Bogard of Brooklyn, NY, T. Miles Davis of Elwood, Mitchell Davis of Elwood, Mark Carpenter of Georgia and Clinton Allen Carpenter of Hartford City. He was preceded in death by her parents – Readus and Ruth (Hankley) Hussong; 2 Sons – David Carpenter and Mark Carpenter; Former husband of 30 years – Paul Mottweiler.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Friday, June 5, 2009 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Rev. Josh Carney of the First Missionary Baptist Church in Elwood officiating. Burial will take place in the Elwood City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 PM Thursday, June 4, 2009 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home.
