Earl Eugene Elrod
January 1934 - May 2013

Earl passed away on May 8, 2013, after a long and hard-fought battle with cancer.
He was born in Sherman County, Nebraska, on a farm west of Loup City. He had six brothers and two sisters. He lived most of his early years in Grand Island, Neb.
Brothers Homer and Lawrence and sister Ada still reside in Grand Island.

In these early years he worked for Safeway and Food Giant and Ralph's warehouses and was absorbed by his work, his children and the river.
In October 1975, Earl married Lynn and they lived in Chino, Calif. They had been coming to the Parker area for weekends; and finally, in 1977 they moved to Parker and purchased and ran the Bean Pot restaurant.
They sold the Bean Pot in 1979; and in 1981. Earl began work at the Port of Entry in Ehrenberg.
In 1983 he was transferred to the Parker Port of Entry. Earl retired from the Motor Vehicle Division in 1998. Many people still recognized Earl as "the guy who gave me my first driver's license."
Earl and Lynn were actively involved with the Eagles in Parker as well as the VFW. Lynn passed away in 2004, and in 2010 he met and married Cynthia Elrod.
