Elie Charette, 88, of Vernon, beloved husband of Rita (Rossignol) Pelletier Charette, passed away peacefully at home on Monday (December 17, 2007). Born in Fort Kent, ME, son of the late Henry and Julie (DuFour) Charette, he has lived in Vernon since 1948. Prior to his retirement, Elie was employed by Carabetta Enterprises in New Britain as an apartment manager for many years. Elie had a wonderful work ethic and took pride in everything that he did. He loved cars and enjoyed gardening. His family was very important and he enjoyed spending time with them. He was a communicant of St. Bernard Church, Rockville. Besides his loving wife of over 21 years, he is survived by his beloved children, Patricia Skinner of Ellington, Milford "Mel" Charette and his wife Nancy of Fort Kent, Maine, M. Carlene Bottaro of North Windham and Rick Charette of Ellington; 10 grandchildren, Sandra Shea-Crabb, John Shea, James and Michael Charette, Michelle Schlude, Dawn Menditto, Corie Gorman, Tami Harakaly, Shanna Charette and Dan Sablotny; 14 great grandchildren; three step-children, Anne Marie Nadeau of Southington, Ronnie Pelletier of West Hartford and Rick Pelletier of Rocky Hill; 6 step-grandchildren; 6 step-great grandchildren; a sister, Leona Bard of Broad Brook; a brother, Leopold Charette of Presque Isle, ME and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Elie was predeceased by his first wife, Lucille (Boulay) Charette and 2 brothers and 3 sisters. His family will receive friends for calling hours on Thursday, December 20, from 5 - 8 p.m. at the Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Road (Route 83), Vernon. Family and friends may gather at the funeral home on Friday, December 21, at 9 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Bernard Church, Rockville. Burial will follow in St. Bernard Cemetery, Rockville.
