Herbert J. Kolbe, age 83, a resident of the Beverly Health Care Center for the past nine years, formerly of Charlestown, died on Tuesday May 23, 2000 at the Beverly Health Care Center in Chilton.
He was born on June 3, 1916 in the Town of Charlestown, son of the late Frank and Clara (Woelfel) Kolbe. He farmed on the family farm in the town of Charlestown for many years until the time of his retirement. He worked for Bartel Construction Co. of Chilton and he also served as undersheriff of Calumet County for Sheriff Kosmosky.
He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Chilton, were he served as an usher for many years. He was a member of the Mission Society and also the Holy Name Society.
He is survived by one. sister, Marie (Alvin) Geiser of Chilton; one niece, Judy (Charles) Zarnoth of New Holstein; five great-nieces and nephews, Alan Zarnoth of New Holstein, Paul (Michaline) Zarnoth, of Oneida, N.Y., Chris (Eddie) Schnell of Green Bay, Kathy (Terry) Mooren of Kiel and Eric Zarnoth of Minneapolis, Minn.
Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. on Thursday May 25, 2000 at St Mary Catholic Church in Chilton with the Rev. Gary New, S.D.S., officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at the church in Chilton on Thursday from 2 p.m. until the time of service. Wieting Funeral Home of Chilton is assisting the family.
