Married 1 Jan 1893 at Deckerville, Sanilac County, MI to Esther White, daughter of William White and Charlotte Kelly.

John A, son/John W.Farnsworth popular hometown Civil War veteran, Farmer, Hotel owner and Lumberman Of Sanilac Co and Roseanna Farnsworth. Brother of: Emerilla (Addie)Palmatier,Julia A Teeple,Sarah May (Sadie) Bufton, David B. and Robert Farnsworth. Husband of Esther White Farnsworth,Their children Florence Peters,Lulu died as toddler, Gracie Alamo, Frederick and Albert Eugene Farnsworth.

John A was the tallest in his family he was 6ft -3 1/2 ins Sandy blond hair as a child, turned brown,he grayed early in life, he had wonderful piercing blue eyes with yellow highlights.
He was called by alot of different nick names, Jack because he helped in the lumber camps with his father John W. Although John could not be sent on his father's formal business affairs,he could not read or write. Don't think for one minute that he was dumb. He was a math wiz, in the lumber yard and forestry industry he could tell you just by looking at a standing tree,it's health and how many pieces of lumber could it yeild right down to the 2x4's. Which in those days were consider scrap wood.
After his father's death in 1906 it was hard for John to make a living as a lumberman on his own, his father and he made a good team With other family members, John W.(Dad) was the front Public relations and hustled the contracts while John A. did the labor and inventory math of it.
John A. learned to read the newspaper, and tried to make it as a farmer on his and his father's land growing tobacco, yes, tobacco in Michigan's thumb, but chicory was mostly what he got, It was good for making cheese, but didn't bring much money so they used it for a mix with coffee and tea. John A. made the best beers, tasty English brews and root bear too. He grew hops and sassafras. This was served back when his father had the Union Hotel in Deckerville, on Main Street. The family moved to Port Huron, Mi and John A. got a labors job for Baker Construction Co. Times were better and the rest of his family moved there too. After several years building the "Good Roads" leaving Pt Huron to Detroit, John helped build a lot of roads mostly Gratiot Ave from Pt Huron to Detroit, until he was injured when a crane broke, holding a sewer pipe and pinned him under it. He would walk half bend for the rest of his life.
