Funeral services for Mattie Duesterhoft Schodek, 87, of Richmond, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 29, at St. John's United Methodist Church, 400 Jackson in Richmond, with the Rev. Kip Gilts officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Leroy Pustejovsky, Raymond Kueck, Wilbert Engelhardt, Gilbert Duesterhoft, Billy Joe Land, James Lee Teel, and Charles Eversole. Visitation will be held from 4:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 28, at the Garmany and Carden Funeral Home, 1201 Fourth Street in Rosenberg.

Mrs. Schodek passed away Dec. 27, 1999 at the Strake House in Conroe. She was born Nov. 27, 1912 in Deanville to parents Frederick W. and Mathilda Kagler Duesterhoft. She had six sisters and four brothers. She married Charles E. Schodek June 2, 1934. She worked at the Post Office Pharmacy in Richmond for many years. Though she did not have any children, she was adopted by numerous nieces and nephews and those who knew her well. Her kindness and generosity will remain with those forever.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, on March 20, 1978, her parents, four sisters, and four brothers.

She is survived by two sisters, Frieda Engelhardt of Rosenberg and Selma Eversole of Needville.

Memorials may be made in her memory to St. John's United Methodist Church.
