As read on James' Last Will and Testament in 1842. James started to write... I give & bequeath to my son, crossed it out and wrote above it grandson Isaac Houghland, son of my daughter Fanny. Isaac born out of wedlock - his father was Sylvester Ellis - lived in the household of James.

The 3rd paragraph reads:
"3rd I give & bequeath to my (crossed out - son James Hougland) Grandson Isaac Hougland son of my daughter Fanny the North west quarter of the South West quarter of Section No. Thirty Six in Township No five South of Range Eight west of the lands sold as aforesaid to be by him possessed & Enjoyed his heirs & assigns forever."

Then the 4th paragraph reads:
"4th I give & bequeath to my son James Hougland the North west quarter of the South East quarter of Section No. Thirty five in Township No. five south of Range No. Eight West of the lands sold at Vincennes Ind to be by him possessed & Enjoyed his heirs & assigns forever."

Her first born son - Isaac Houghland 1829-1913 - out of wedlock, fathered by Sylvester Ellis.

With John Jackson Fisher, their children were:
1. Minerva Fisher Richardson 1835–1890
2. Alfred J. 1838-1906
3. Cecilia Elizabeth Fisher Richardson 1839-1923
4. Jacob 1843-1911
5. John 1845-1919
6. William H. 1847-1886
7. Marion 1850-1917

All buried at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church Cemetery, Boonville, Indiana, except for Marion...his burial whereabouts still in question.

NOTE: Bottom part of the headstone is faded and difficult to read but otherwise able to decipher.

Our father and mother are gone.
They lie beneath the sod.
