Dick Addink, 93, of Sioux Center, Iowa died Thursday, February 23, 2012 at Franken Manor in Sioux Center.

A visitation will be held on Sunday from 2-8 PM, with the family present from 3-5 PM at Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center.

A funeral service will be held on Monday at 10:30 AM at the Bethel Christian Reformed Church with Rev. John Lee officiating. Interment will follow the service in Memory Gardens Cemetery of Sioux Center.

The Addink Family prefers memorials be directed to Sioux Center Christian School.

Dick Addink, son of John and Jennie (Lammers) Addink, was born December 10, 1918 on a farm near Sioux Center. He attended a country school through the 8th grade. He was the 6th of 7 children, and the oldest son of the family. In addition to helping on the family farm, at the age of twelve he started helping his father with his corn shelling business, and went out alone at age 15. At age 20 he took over his father's corn shelling business, which he owned until he retired in 1981. After his retirement he drove truck for Sioux Automation and spent a great deal of time enjoying his hobbies which included fishing, hunting, card-playing, woodworking, and traveling.

He married Hilda Kiel on September 12, 1940. They lived in or near Sioux Center their entire married life. They raised a family of nine children. Dick's priority was that his children be raised to love and fear the Lord. They were active members of Bethel Christian Reformed Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Hilda, in 2011; infant son, Calvin in 1955; his eldest son, John Steward of Jesus in 2012; his five sisters and their husbands: John and Gertrude DeGroot; John and Minnie Byl; Pete and Alice DeGroot; Albert and Dena Van Riesen; and Bill and Hattie Verdoorn.
