Alois "Al" Babler, 98, longtime resident of Green Bay, died peacefully Tuesday, August 6, 2013. He was born October 9, 1914, in Maplewood, WI to Anton and Mary (Bretl) Babler.Al served in the 96th Infantry Division serving in the South Pacific. He participated in the initial landings in the Philippines and Okinawa. He was awarded the Bronze Star, on April 22, 1945, in Okinawa. On July 11, 1942, Al married Martha Wisniewski at SS. Edward and Isidore Catholic Church in Flintville. He was one of the original members of St. Agnes Parish. Al was employed at Northern Paper and American Can Paper Mills for 40 years. Playing cards and gardening were his pastimes. Al also loved going to the Chalet for Friday fish fries with his in-laws.Al is survived by his children and their spouses, Gloria and Marty Jones, Westerville, OH; Donald and Connie Babler, Green Bay; Phyllis and Daryl Vincent, Green Bay; grandchildren, Lori Jones, Danny (Lianne) Jones, Bryan (Carissa) Vincent, Sarah (Greg) Kassimer, Kari Babler and her special friend, Nick, David Babler and his special friend, Jackie Maas; great-granddaughter, Grace Elizabeth Vincent; and many nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha in 2005; his siblings, Clem, Ray, Frank, Tony, Helen, Adeline; and many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.. Entombment will be in Allouez Chapel Mausoleum.
