Mrs. R.E. Trowbridge, born Roxanna E. Chandler, beloved wife of Henry. C. Trowbridge, died at St. Olaf Hospital. Sunday afternoon, August 15,1937.
She was born Nov 9, 1852 at Milton, Canada, near the city of Quebec and came with her parents, brothers and sister to Austin, MN. in 1856, crossing the Lakes in ferry boats and driving across the country in covered wagons to locate in Cedar city on the farm now owned by H.S. Chandler. She was married January 2, 1871 to Henry C. Trowbridge who preceded her in death May 11, 1918. She always lived in Austin and vicinity the past fifty-three years having been spent at her farm home on river road, south of Austin.
She leaves to mourn her death her children, Mrs. Nettie Warrington, Fred A. Trowbridge of Hollandale, Mrs. Grace Wilder, Harry C. Trowbridge and G. Truman Trowbridge of Minneapolis and Ethel at home. Also 21 Grandchildren and 19 Great grandchildren. A devoted mother, she loved and was loved by a large circle of relatives and friends but was always happiest in her own home, a home, where old and young delighted to gather and which will never be the same since she has gone.
The funeral services were conducted at her home by the Spiritualist minister from Waterloo. Mrs. Sophia Smally, Miss Edith Chandler (niece of Mrs. Trowbridge), Mr. & Mrs. Lloyd Dahl and Mrs. Sterling Krause sang several beautiful numbers.The pallbearers were her grandsons, John T. Freeman, Harlan and Donald Trowbridge, Homer and Silvia Warrington.Those from away were Mrs. A.B. Wilder, Mr. and Mrs. Harry C. Trowbridge, also Harlan and Ione; Mr. & Mrs. G.T. Trowbridge and Grace and Donald; Mrs. Arthur Deline, Mr. and Mrs. S.T. Warrington, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Praether and daughter.
