The book "The Descendants of William and Annis Chandler" by George Chandler, p. 925 says that Starling enlisted on 21 Sept 1861 in Co. A, 11th regiment, Minn. Volunteers.
The above information is wrong. National archives records have him in listing on 28 Sept, 1861 in the PA 11th calvary. Mustered out on 2 Oct 1864. Claiming residence in Waterloo, Iowa
Starling was Justice of Peace in Littleton Colorado. Also a member of GAR in Littleton.
