Lines dedicated to the memory of the little daughter of Lizzie and Medley Chilton, who departed this life Sunday morning, January 17th, at 1 o'clock, one year, one month and 16 days.
Sleep, dear Mildred sleep,
Under the cold and chilly sod,
For your Savior you will meet,
And your home is now with God.
Oh! how sad it was to part,
With her we loved so dearly, But it was God's will thus to do,
To leave us all so early
We thought it a task to part with thee
In a world so drear and cold,
But we knew that the loving Savior's arms
Would gather her into his fold.
Parents cheer up and dry your tears,
God gives and takes. There are no fears
But that this will of her's will rear
A hope for you in heaven more dear.
