DEATH OF MELVIN SHELTON (sic)

Melvin Shelton (sic) who was born and reared north of Newark, but for the last six years had made his home with Mr. and Mrs. Harry Brown of near Canton, died Tuesday afternoon of last week at the age of 47 years. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon in the Brown home and burial was in the Newark cemetery by the graves of the rest of his family who had preceded him in death. Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. W. K. Moore, Methodist minister of LaGrange. Mr. Shelton (sic) joined the Newark Baptist Church when a young boy.

MELVIN CHILTON.
Burial rites for Melvin Chilton were held at the Newark I. O. O. F. cemetery Thursday afternoon. He died Tuesday night of last week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Brown, near Canton, where he had made his home for more than six years.
He was forty-seven years old and had long been in ill health. He was the last member of the family of Medley and Elizabeth Slaughter Chilton. His father, mother, brother, Robert Lee Chilton, sister, Hester, and a baby sister all preceding him in death.
When a young boy, Melvin united with the Newark Baptist church where his mother and sister were members.
Rev. W. K. Moore, a Methodist minister, of LaGrange, had charge of the funeral service at the Harry Brown home and also at the cemetery.
The many friends of Melvin will always love Mr. and Mrs. Brown, who gave him a Christian home and love and care when he needed them so much.
