Rena D. Kampen, 86, of Baileyville, IL, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013, at Liberty Village in Freeport, IL. She was born February 21, 1927, the daughter of the late Frank and Geneva (Chambers) Cox. She married Delmar Kampen August 5, 1944, in Shannon, IL; he passed away September 8, 2010. Rena was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Shannon and the Freeport Flower Club. She was a hard worker and always looked for ways to help out. She enjoyed flowers and cooking for anyone who walked through the door. She loved her grandchildren and her dog, Buster. Rena is survived by her daughter, Sandra (Richard) Mertz of Baileyville; two granddaughters, Wendy (Troy) Derrer of Baileyville and Michelle (Chad) Griffiths of Baileyville; seven great- grandchildren, Garrett, Kate, Dalton, Mary Jo, Sydney, Quinn, and Daniel; and brother, Darvin (Eileen) Cox of Freeport. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; four sisters, Ethel, Ruth, Helen, and Velma; and three brothers, Lyle, Cleone, and Art. Her funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, November 9, 2013, at Bethel United Methodist Church in Shannon. There will be a one hour visitation before the service beginning at 9 a.m. Interment will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport.
