"Mrs. Amy Shellhart died at her home on North Halloway Street in Winamac on Wednesday morning at the age of seventy-three years. She had not been ill and was found to have passed away in her sleep when members of the family went to the home about 9:30.
Funeral services are to be held Saturday morning at 10:00 o'clock at the Winamac Christian Church, where she held membership. The Rev. Richard J. Berkey will officiate and burial will be in the Winamac Cemetery. The body will be taken from the Fry & Lange Funeral Home to the church an hour prior to the services.
A daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Horace Hendry, Mrs. Shellhart was born in Hartford City on January 4, 1886 and had lived in this community for many years. Her first marriage in 1904 was to Charles Little, who died a year later. She was married to William Shellhart in 1907, his death occurred last January.
Among the fifty-four descendants surviving are five daughters, a son, twenty-eight grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren. The daughters are: Mrs. Goldie Foust, Mrs. Lucy Doty, and Mrs. Frances Dilts, all of Winamac; Mrs. Crystal Foust of Griffithville, AR; and Mrs. Edith Alm of Marion, OH. Horace Shellhart of Winamac is the son. Two children preceded her in death.
Also surviving are four sisters and three brothers, Mrs. Emma Gowman of Dowagiac, MI; Mrs. Jenny Bozarth of Roann; Mrs. Bertha Wall of Fort Wayne; Mrs. Lucille Podell of Winamac; Wilson Hendry of Wabash; Marion Hendry of Lansing, MI; and Floyd Hendry of Peru.
