Death Takes Two Men in Same Family
The death of William Shellhart, seventy-nine years of age and that of his son-in-law, Renza Foust, sixty-six, occurred within a few hours. Mr. Shellhart this morning at 6:30 a.m. and Mr. Foust Wednesday night about 9:00. Both are well known residents of the Winamac area.
Native of Winamac --Mr. Shelhart was born January 9, 1880, southwest of Winamac, a son of pioneer residents, Mr. and Mrs. George Shellhart. With the exception of twenty years in Kokomo, he spent his entire life in the Winamac vicinity. His marriage to Amy Hendry took place here in 1907, with the couple observing their fiftieth anniversary two years ago. He had been in failing health for several years.
Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Mrs. Crystal Faust of Griffithville, AR; Mrs. Edith Alm of Marion, OH; Mrs. Lucy Doty and Mrs. Frances Dilts of Winamac; son, Horace Shelhart of Winamac; step-daughter, Mrs. Renza Faust, Winamac; twenty-eight grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren. There are also three brothers, Charles and Andrew of Richwood, OH; and Isaac of Winamac; and a half sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Galbreath of Benton Harbor, MI.
Services are to be held at the Fry & Lange Funeral Home, with the Rev. C.D. Barringer officiating, on Sunday afternoon at 1:30. Burial will be in the Winamac Cemetery.
