Charlotte Mathieson was born at Woolwich township in Waterloo County, Ontario.

Based on the birth places of their children, her parents lived for a few years in Waterloo county, and then during about the next 15 years lived in several towns in southern Ontario (for example Zorra, Stratford and Clinton) where her father worked as a farm labourer and foreman of a flax mill.

She was married twice:
(1) in 1881 at Brandon, Manitoba to George Henry Munroe
(2) in 1927 at Kincardine, Ontario to the Rev. Frederick Oliver.

She was an ardent advocate of temperance, and for forty years a faithful teacher in Sabbath School of the Presbyterian Church, of which she was a life long member.
...
Her pastor, the Rev. F. Oliver, of the Presbyterian Church conducted the services at the house and at the grave.
Friends from a distance were Mrs. Brown of London; Mrs. Munroe of Brandon Man.; Mrs Thomas of Norwich, and Mr. James Stewart of Stratford.
