Wilkes-Barre Times-Leader (Wilkes-Barre, PA), 1909: Luzerne County Golden Wedding Celebrants. The golden wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. David Kloss was recently celebrated at their home in Ashley, Luzerne county, and was attended by five generations. Mrs. Kloss is now 68 years of age, and her husband is 72. The latter is a veteran of the Civil War. The children present at the celebration were: Mrs. Thomas A. Briggs of Upper Lehigh; Mrs. Morgan Jones, Mrs. Edward Shaffer, of Ashley, and Philip Kloss, of Freeland.

Mrs. Elizabeth Kloss, widow of David Kloss, died yesterday of paralysis at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Morgan Jones, on Mary street, with whom she resided. Mrs. Kloss was born at Old Buck Mountain in 1847 and had been a resident of Ashley for twenty-four years. She was a member of the Ashley Presbyterian Church and of its societies.

She leaves the following children: William, Mrs. Robert Howey, Mrs. Thomas Briggs of Freeland; Philip of Philadelphia, Walter of Schenectady, N.Y.; Mrs. Morgan Jones, Mrs. Edward Shafer, Ira and George of Ashley, Boyd of Wilkes-Barre; also twenty-six grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren. The funeral arrangements will be announced later.

With services at 1:30 o’clock yesterday afternoon the funeral of Mrs. Elizabeth Kloss was held from the home of her daughter, Mrs. Morgan Jones, corner May and Green streets. A large number of relatives and friends attended the services and there were many floral contributions. Rev. Robert Graham, pastor of the Presbyterian Church, officiated. Following the services the body was taken to Freeland for interment. The pall bearers were John Osborne, Samuel Snyder, Robert Rowlands, Thompson McGowan, Edward Hughes and William Heatherby.
