P. H. Gibbons, 76, Retired Farmer, Died In Quincy; Was Buried Here Monday
Pat Gibbons of Edina, a retired farmer, died at 2 o'clock last Thursday afternoon, March 5, 1959, at St. Mary Hospital in Quincy, where he was taken just a week before, on Thursday, Feb. 26. He was 76 years old and had not been well for some time.
Funeral services were conducted at 10:30 o'clock Monday morning at St. Joseph Catholic Church here by the Rev. Terence Mullins, pastor. Burial was in the Catholic New Cemetery here. The Rosary was recited Sunday evening at Kriegshauser Funeral Home, where the body was brought after death. Nephews were pallbearers.
Mrs. Gibbons and seven children and fourteen grandchildren survive. The chldren are: Francis Gibbons, Canton; Mary, Mrs. Guy Lindsey, Auburndale, Fla.; Ella Mae, Mrs. Henry, "Hank," Fisher, near Newark; Rose Ann, Mrs. James Pfifer, Rivera, Calif.; Paul Gibbons, Peoria, Ill.; Charles Gibbons, Anaheim, Calif., and Patrick, "Patty," Gibbons, Jr., on the farm south of Edina.
There survive also a brother, Andrew Gibbons, of northeast of Edina and three sisters: Maggie, Mrs. Jack Quigley, Baring; Agnes, Mrs. John O'Neill, Kansas City, and Annie, Mrs. Joe Early, Anabel.
Patrick Henry Gibbons, or Pat Gibbons as he was generally called, one of the ten children of James and Mary Teresa White Gibbons, was born Feb. 23, 1883, on the Gibbons home farm northeast of Edina, where he grew to manhood.
He was married April 12, 1915, to Miss Josephine Wever by the Rev. R. J. Healy, pastor, at St. Joseph Church here. Mr. and Mrs. Gibbons were the parents of eight children, a son, James Gibbons, having preceded his father in death.
Mr. Gibbons was also preceded in death by his father many years ago; a sister, Ella, Mrs. Mike Mara, and brothers: Thomas Leo Gibbons, and an infant and Steve J. Gibbons, 53 years old, May 26, 1951, and John Joseph Gibbons, 69, Nov. 12, 1955. His mother, 90, years old, died May 10, 1944.
All the children were present at the funeral and have now returned to their homes.
