Mrs. Spiva was a loving mother, sister and grandmother. She loved slot machines and slot tournaments. Mrs. Spiva worked with the Gemini program in Arizona in the 1960's. She was still employed with Lockheed as a supervisor after 48 years. She was a member of Eastwood Baptist Church in Marietta, GA.
Mrs. Spiva was preceded in death by her husband Guy Walter Spiva in 1998 and sister Lytie Slate in 1988. Survivors include her children Angie and James Thomas of Elljay, GA, Keith Spiva of Woodstock and Warren Long of Blairsville, GA; brother Daniel and Judy Keen of Swords Creek, VA; sisters Alice Albert of Rockingham, NC and Ruth Byrd of Swords Creek, VA; grandchildren Katherine Wood, Jason Spiva, Joshua Spiva Poole, Stephen Long, Levi Thomas and Hannah Thomas; 11 great grandchildren; many of her coworkers; many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services were held at Mountain View Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. G.R. Graves and Rev. James Thomas officiating. Music was by the Heard Family and Bernard Cornwell. Pallbearers were Levi Thomas, Joshua Spiva-Poole, Jason Spiva, Gene Albert, Randy Spiva and Timothy Wood. Honorary pallbearers were Willie White, Kurtez Troutman, Jamie Welborn, Wayne Timpson, Joel Fortune, Jerry Garland and Randy Elliott. Interment was in Shady Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery where she rests next to her beloved husband Walt.
