A retired merchant and farmer, John H. Riggs, 87, died Thursday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Glenn Funkhouser, R. 6.

He was a member of the Free Methodist Church here and was the father of two ministers. His wife, Annabelle [sic], died in May, 1954.

Other survivors besides the daughter are two others, Mrs. O. F. Taylor, R. 6, and Mrs. Ervin Beeler, Bluffton; three sons, Rev. John E. Riggs, Dan Diego, Calif., Rev. E. D. Riggs, Bedford, and Harold Riggs, Bloomington; a brother, Will Riggs, of Arkansas; a sister, Mrs. Verlie Vice, Bloomington, 28 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren.

Funeral is set for 4 p.m. Saturday at the Greene and Harrell Funeral Home with burial at Clear Creek Cemetery. Rev. E. D. Riggs will be assisted by Rev. E. E. Wright. Rev. and Mrs. Donald Riggs will furnish music.

Grandsons will be pallbearers and include Lonnie, Robert and Jack Funkouser, and Dale, Paul and Walter Taylor.

The body remains at Greene and Harrell Funeral Home where friends may call after 6 p.m. today.

Omitted in Friday's list of survivors was a brother, H. F. Riggs, Bloomington.

Pallbearers will be grandsons Lonnie, Robert, and Jack Funkhouser, and Dale, Paul, and Walter Taylor.
