"Ill Two Weeks, Reinhard Doede Dies at Hospital

"Weyauwega - Following an illness of two weeks, Reinhard Daniel Doede, 77, Rt. 1, Weyauwega, died at 5:30 a.m. Sunday at the New London Community Hospital.

"He was born July 21, 1879 in Germany, the son of Mr. and Mrs. August Doede. He came to the United States at the age of 13 and to Weyauwega where he had lived since.

"Mr. Doede was married April 27, 1904 in the Town of Little Wolf to Mathilda Handrich. He was a member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Weyauwega.

"Surviving are his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Walter Kiekhafer, Rt. 2, Weyauwega: two sons, Reuben, at home, and Hubert, Rt. 1; two brothers, August, Flat Rock, Mich., and Richard, Chelan, Wash.; three sisters, Mrs. Mathilda Hartzke, Naperville, Ill., Mrs. Amelia Reeck, West Bloomfield, and Mrs. Alvina Ernst, Iola, and eight grandchildren.

"Private funeral services will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Bauer Funeral Home, with public rites in St. Peter's Church at 2 p.m. Wednesday with the Rev. H. E. Wicke officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.

"Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 p.m. Tuesday until noon Wednesday and thereafter at the church until time of services.

"Pallbearers will be Otto Hartzke, Paul Doede, Herbert Krause, Loren Purchatzke, Elmer Handrich and Richard Glocke."

Reinhard retained the original German pronunciation of the family name. His line pronounced "Doede" with a long A instead of a long O.
