Oscar Wetzel, former hotelkeeper, died at his home at Alburtis at 5:05 Sunday morning following several weeks of illness, of which he had been bedfast nearly two weeks. He was aged 73 years. Mr. Wetzel was born in Longswamp township, Berks county, a son of the late Charles and Elizabeth Moll Wetzel. For many years he was a farmer and then became a carpenter and woodworker in the Topton Furniture Co. Later he conducted the Keystone hotel in Alburtis but retired about four years ago. He was a member of the Reformed congregation of Zion Lehigh church. He is survived by eight sons, William of Alburtis R. 1, Herbert of Alburtis, George of Wescosville, Alvin, Clinton and Milton of Alburtis R. 1, Lloyd of Mohnton and Raymond with the U. S. Army at Fort Blanding, Fla., four daughters, Mrs. Clarence Scherer, Mrs. Morris Long and Mabel Wetzel of Alburtis and Mrs. Claude Rauch of Allentown, 37 grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. George Stengel of Bally and Mrs. Lillie Dierolf of Boyertown. His wife, Annie, nee Reppert, preceded him in death by about ten years. One daughter also preceded him in death. The funeral will be held Thursday afternoon with brief services at the residence of his son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Wetzel at Alburtis, at 1:30 o'clock, followed by continued services in Zion Lehigh church, Rev. William O. Wolford officiating. Interment will be made in the cemetery adjoining the church. Friends may call Wednesday night from 7 to 9 o'clock.
