BEYOND THE SIGHING AND WEEPING
A bright life that had fulfilled its brief mission of usefulness was terminated in young manhood early this morning, when Charles Groth, a well known teacher of the county, died at his home in the town of Newton.
He suffered from consumption and had been ailing for nearly a year, but only during the past three weeks had the seriousness of his condition become evident. The closing days of his earthly career were marked by intense suffering that made the presence of Death a welcome visitation.
Deceased was born in Germany in 1867, and had attained the age of 33 years when called to respond to the last summons.
He came to Manitowoc county with his parents in 1869 and of recent years had been one of the successful teachers of the county, having been engaged at Centerville, Liberty and Newton. He was a scholarly man and deeply interested in his chosen profession, for the advancement of which he had lent his best efforts.
A wife and two children, with mother and sisters and brothers survive him.
One brother, Henry Groth is employed at the German-American bank in this city.
The funeral will be held Tuesday from the late home in Newton.
