Found in The State 16 August 1911: Mrs. Agnes Pearson Macbeth, formerly of this city, but more lately a resident of St. Louis, Mo., died yesterday morning after an illness of several weeks. Mrs. Macbeth was the widow of Capt. James Ravenel Macbeth, a graduate of the Arsenal academy of Columbia, and commander of the Macbeth artillery during the War Between the Sections. She was the eldest daughter of John Henderson Pearson and Ellen Wallace and the granddaughter of Andrew Wallace, who came to this city from Kireudbright, Scotland in 1799. For many years both branches of her family were prominently identified with Columbia's history. Her father was commissioner in equity for Richland district from 1852 until his death in 1864. She was a member of the Episcopal church. Mrs. Macbeth was a woman possessed of many rare traits of character. In her adopted home she had gathered a circle of devoted friends and to many of the old residents of Columbia her death will come as a genuine grief. Of her immediate family, Mrs. Macbeth is survived by one son, Ravenel Macbeth of Boise City, Idaho, a brother, John H. Pearson of Easton, Pennsylvania, and three sisters, Mrs. E. H. Lee of Jacksonville, Fla., Mrs. Andrew C. Jackson and Miss Sallie P. Pearson of this city. Since the death of their parents she had taken the part of a mother to her four little grandchildren, Claire Berthoid Macbeth, George Kerr Macbeth and Malcolm Macbeth, children of her son Malcolm Macbeth, who died in July of last year. No announcement as to the funeral has yet been made pending the arrival of her son from Idaho.
