Wallace L. Ott, "Fritz", was born on Jan. 3, 1926, in Forest Junction, Wis., to Alfred and Elsie (Hacker) Ott. He graduated from Brillion High School in 1944.
On May 10, 1947, he married his high school sweet- heart, Alyce Burich at St. Mary's in Brillion.
He died peacefully at home on V Wednesday, July 8, 2009, surrounded by his wife and children following a courageous battle with cancer and heart disease.
Fritz's life was marked by a deep faith in God. He attended daily mass with his wife. Fritz retired from the City of De Pere, where he made many lasting friendships. He enjoyed life to the fullest, including going up North, walking in the woods, deer hunting, his garden and flowers, traveling, and spending time with his family.
He is survived by Alyce, his best friend and wife of 62 years; and children, Charlie (Barbara) Ott and children, Keri (Dan) Hurley, Kristin (Wade) Challacombe; Connie (Sid) O'Brien and children, Erin (Jerry) Cameron, Kelly (Stephanie) O'Brien; Gary (Linda) Ott and children, Ryan and Melissa; Steve (Nancy) Ott and daughter, Nicole; Keith (Debra) Ott and children, Cory, Kyle and Emily; beloved greatgrandchildren, Emma, Kevin, Matthew Hurley and Jade, Alia, Dana Cameron and soon-to-be-born baby Cameron and Challacombe twins.
He is further survived by brother, Harold (Phyllis) Ott; sisters-in-law, Adeline Bright, Jeanette Ott and Jo Ann Ott; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Helen Gosz, Mildred Orth, Joe (Alice) Burich and Delores Burich; godchildren, Joyce Krueger, Diane Carmody, Carole Burich, Daniel Kanter and Tracy Springstrod; and other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Mildred (Ralph) Huebner, Roger (Amanda) Ott, Roland Ott, Helen (Tony) Rank, Leo Ott, Ray Ott, Jane (Bucky) Parkin, and Shirley Ott; in-laws, Charles and Mary Burich, Mary (George) Kanter, John Gosz, Julia (Ray) Crasser, Ray Orth and John Burich.
His quick smile, sense of humor and likeability will be missed by all who knew him.
. Family and friends may call Sunday, July 12, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N. Webster Ave., De Pere. Parish prayer service at 7:30 with Deacon Kevin DeCleene. Visitation will continue on Monday, from 9 to 10:15 at St. Francis Catholic Church, 220 S. Michigan St., De Pere. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 Monday at church with the Rev. David Duffeck officiating and Rev. John H. Harper and Rev. V. Anthony Dolski concelebrating. Interment in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, De Pere.
