Clyde Roy Cessna, 83, Avonmore RD 1, died Thursday, Aug. 17, 2000, at West Haven Nursing Home, Washington Township, where he had been a patient for six months.

The son of Frank and Edna Kough Cessna, he was born Sept. 16, 1916, in Plumcreek Township, Armstrong County.

Mr. Cessna lived in South Bend Township most of his life.

He was employed as a log splitter by Perry & Meglin Lumber Mill in Whitesburg where he retired in 1978.

Surviving are his long time companion, Irene V. Birge of South Bend Township; three daughters: Nola T. Cessna of Savage, Maryland, Charlotte L. Cessna of South Bend Township, Norma L. Richard of Manassas, VA.; two sons: Roger C. Cessna of Indiana and Albert B. Cessna of Shelocta; five brothers: Virge Cessna of Elderton, Ward Cessna of Elyria, Ohio, Merle Cessna of Weirton, W. Va., and Charles Cessna of Shelocta; four sisters: Laura Carr of Baltimore, Md., Mildred Albanese of Baltimore, MD., Mary Rose of New Market, Va., and Clarissa Meyer of Shelocta; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Bernard Cessna; one brother, Kenneth Cessna; and two sisters: Velma Claypool and Rosie Elgin.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Curran-Shaffer Funeral Home, Inc., Apollo, where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday with the Rev. Robert Shallenberger officiating. Interment will be in the Ridge View Cemetery, Young Township.
